Urban Energy Cluster

PROJECT UEC

UTILIZING LOCAL ENERGY RESOURCES BY DEVELOPING THE CONCEPT OF AN URBAN ENERGY CLUSTER

PROJECT

PROJECT PARTNERS

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Urban Energy Cluster (UEC) is a group of companies representing the supply and demand side of the local (municipal, regional) energy economy. Co-operation between energy producers and consumers allows efficient use of energy within the local energy plan. This results in increased energy efficiency in the public service sector and increases the use of alternative energy sources and related reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Simultaneous incorporation into the UEC a local waste management company contributes to the reduction of pollutant emissions to water and land. Experience of the Norwegian partner (Norsk Energi - NE) in the development of local energy clusters will be adapted to Polish conditions and will be able to be used in the future.

The aim of the project is to support the competence and transfer of know-how to the Polish partner (Energy Conservation Foundation - ECF) in the field of UEC creation. The indirect beneficiary of the project will be the municipality of Tarnów, in which the municipal heat engineering company expressed its interest in the project. The city will be an example of how the UEC concept will be developed. This concept will be the result of a project and together with the exchange of knowledge and experience will be disseminated at the project closing conference.

The project is co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 "Norway Grants" in the framework of bilateral cooperation.

Operational Program: PL04 Saving energy and promoting renewable energy sources
